Nine Years Ago, Almost to the Date
We are in a Universal Year 1 again, the same numerical current that carried us through 2017. Add the digits: 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10 = 1. Back then it was 2 + 0 + 1 + 7 = 10 = 1. The 1 is the same, but the two-digit signature underneath it tells the real story. Hone in on 17 to read the theme of the late 2010s, and on 26 to read the theme of the late 2020s.
The 2 brings detail and transparency into view where the 1, on its own, keeps things obscured. The clearest example is the masculine, 1-led decade of the 1990s. Before smartphones and social media, what someone said or did was not instantly known or verified. Unless it was caught on video or photo, you took people at their word. What this generation finds intolerable was simply social protocol back then, the price of keeping the job, staying in the circle, and not getting frozen out.
By 2017, the 2 arrived and its feminine, transparent energy broke into the open. The Women's March, a wave of human-rights protests, and the jaw-dropping #MeToo movement placed Harvey Weinstein at the center of a global reckoning. Weather turned erratic with three major hurricanes, and the headlines filled with high-profile White House firings. What had been whispered was suddenly on the record.
The difference between the nineties and today is not only that cameras are everywhere, but that instant news and constant updates are too. If the masculine, leading 1 is what feels “hard,” the 2 is what feels “soft.” Call it hardware versus software. Everything is cyclical, and every cycle builds on the one before it.
What Does This Have to Do with the Lunar Nodes?
On July 26, 2026 the nodal axis shifts into tropical Leo and Aquarius, and it holds that seasonal axis until March 26, 2028. The South Node (Ketu) moves through Leo and the North Node (Rahu) through Aquarius. The last time we lived this exact axis was 2017. We return with more accumulated experience and, in some ways, real progress, but there is a shadow side to everything, and the nodes are where it lives.
The lunar nodes represent the collective shadow, and they naturally travel retrograde. This is the karmic axis. They are not physical planets of matter. They are two mathematical points where the orbit of the Moon crosses the orbit of the Earth around the Sun.
Two Stories, One Reality
You may have met the nodes through a tropical, Western lens: the South Node as something to release because it lives in the past, and the North Node as the call forward toward your destiny. Or you may have learned the Vedic story of the dragon's tail, where Ketu carries themes of mastery and spiritual detachment, while Rahu, the head, is all hunger and ambition, forever reaching for what is foreign to it.
These are roughly two sides of the same story. The underlying reality is simpler and more beautiful. At the two points where the Moon's orbit intersects the Earth's, the Moon is either ascending across the northern ecliptic or descending across the southern one. That crossing is the reason we experience an eclipse, the alignment of Sun, Earth, and Moon. No nodes, no eclipse season.
Reading Two Systems at Once

The 18-Year Line and Your Nodal Return
The line of nodes rotates through the entire zodiac roughly every 18 years, which is also the length of your nodal return. Look back across your own life and you can usually feel it: both ends of the axis have shown up in turn, pulling you out of one extreme and into its opposite. That is exactly why both exist, and why eclipse seasons keep arriving to rebalance us.
Across these roughly twenty months, the Leo/Aquarius axis tends to show up as romance, the creative mind, self expression, entertainment, gains, networks, and technological progress. That is the flattened description. What we will actually live is far more dynamic, because a nodal axis is a tension, not a checklist.
The Transit, Read Through Both Systems
Lead with the tropical frame, because that is the seasonal one. The nodes are the Moon's crossings of the ecliptic, the Sun's seasonal path, and the tropical zodiac is anchored to the equinoxes and solstices. So the tropical reading is the natural home for the eclipse-season story: the North Node ascending, the South Node descending, and eclipses landing wherever the Sun and Moon meet those crossings. In that seasonal frame the axis holds Leo and Aquarius from July 26, 2026 until March 26, 2028.
Now bridge into the sidereal for the fixed-star detail. Because the sidereal zodiac runs about 24° behind the tropical, tropical Leo/Aquarius overlays sidereal Cancer/Capricorn across this window. The seasonal story stays Leo–Aquarius, while the Nakshatra story keeps Ketu inside Cancer and Rahu inside Capricorn the whole time. Since the nodes are always retrograde, they move backward into lower degrees, entering the Nakshatras below on the dates shown (computed from the true node).

The coiled serpent, Mercury-ruled. As Ketu moves back into Cancer, Ashlesha dissolves entanglement, secrecy, and the ties that bind us to what we have outgrown.

Saturn-ruled Pushya, the most nourishing of the nakshatras. Ketu here releases the drain from constant giving, teaching self-nurture that is sustainable.

Sun-ruled Uttara Ashadha, the “later victory.” Rahu here rewards patient, principled ambition, the drive to build something that lasts and earns lasting respect.
The Nakshatras spans the Lahiri ayanamsa, and the ingress dates are computed from the true node across the July 26, 2026 to March 26, 2028 window. Because the true node oscillates about 1.5° around its mean, a crossing can shift a few days year to year, a precision we honor inside the calculator rather than flatten here.
Let's Ground the Axis
A few things worth holding as the shift lands:
- The seasonal axis is Leo–Aquarius. Leo asks for heart, personal expression, and creative courage; Aquarius asks for the collective, the network, and the long view. The growth is in refusing to abandon either end.

- Eclipse season is a portal, not a verdict. The nodes reveal the shadow so we can work with it consciously, one thought and one choice at a time.
